Department Offers Workshop

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Department of Evangelical and Missionary Activities has offered a three-day training for church men drawn from all corners of the country who are engaged in evangelical and missionary activities.

His Holiness Abune Paulos, Patriarch of Ethiopia, Archbishop of Axum, Echege of the See of St. Tekle Haimanot, President of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and Honorary President of World Religions for Peace, who opened the conference, urged the participants to live and exert effort up to the expectation of the Holy Church to meet her demand in this challenging and ever-changing world.

His Holiness added that the Department of Evangelical and Missionary Activities of the EOTC is one of the Church’s active departments working hard more than ever to serve the faithful across the country.

His Holiness added that the prime objective of the existence of the Church is to ensure and promote peaceful coexistence and work for the development and prosperity of this country.

The three day workshop aims at creating awareness on the main objectives of the department and help participants conduct their missionary activities in their respective areas of responsibility accordingly.

The importance of incorporating the notion of peace, development and other critical social issues in their day-to-day evangelical and missionary activities were also topic of discussion.

Head of the Department, Abba Hailemariam, urged the participants to clearly understand the prime and set agenda of the Holy Church and serve the faithful with a great sense of responsibility as the existence of the Church and the new generation stands in the present achievement of the participants.

The participants, who were satisfied by the workshop, for their part expressed their readiness to exert their utmost effort to discharge their duties and responsibilities in truly serving the faithful.
